Week 1: Nov. 22, 2013
On Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, I sat in on a brainstorming session for an upcoming event that NYX will produce for a corporate client. Below are the notes that I took at the meeting, which were later used as “talking points” for the producer as he crafted his pitch to the client.

Week 2: Nov. 29, 2013
For the week of Nov. 29, 2013, I had to put together a list of venues in the D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia areas for a  Mitzvah client. The producer needed information with regards to the capacity, price and catering options of the venue.

Week 3: Dec. 6, 2013
At the beginning of the week, I was tasked with coming up with a blog concept that showcased event production. I decided that it would be best for NYX to teach people how to throw their own “DIY” New Year’s Eve party, as it would showcase their expert knowledge in the area of entertainment, and also give them an opportunity to cross-market with their industry partners that specialize in other areas (decor, food and beverage etc.)
For the next month, my production task was to write the blog that teaches individuals how to plan and produce a New Year’s Eve party from the ground up.

The first week’s blog dealt with the basics of party planning, and taught readers how to decide what kind of party they want to have.

Week 4: Dec. 13, 2013
This week, I continued my blogging journey. The second week’s blog dealt with all-things food and beverage. My intern coordinator, Andrew Larris, reached out to some of his industry colleagues who specialize in the area of food and beverage to “loop in” some expert opinion through direct quotation.

Week 5: Dec. 20, 2013
This week, I wrote the third and final blog for the how-to blog that dealt with New Year’s Eve. The final blog featured music and entertainment. Because music and entertainment is NYX’s area of production specialty, I consulted CEO and Creative Director, Howard Teger, and my intern coordinator, Andrew Larris, for their expert advice and quotes.

Week 6: Jan. 3, 2014
This week, NYX was receiving lots of calls with regards to Bar and Bat Mitzvah parties, so we decided to write a blog that highlighted tips for planning a Mitzvah. I worked closely with NYX’s Mitzvah specialist, Sandra Teger, to write a blog that highlights her top 10 tips for planning a Mitzvah.

Week 7: Jan. 10, 2014
This week, I did work organizing the files for this year’s events. This work entailed filing away last year’s contracts, pulling out this year’s contracts, and making a new space for the 2015 contracts. Additionally, I went through the Bar and Bat Mitzvah contracts and made a schedule for the entertainment producer to order party favors.

Party favors are the fun giveaways that the MC and dancers give out during the dance sets of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah reception. Each party gets a certain kind of favors, which is ultimately dependent on the party being a celebration of a Bat (girl) or Bar (boy) Mitzvah. The schedule I made is below.

Week 8: Jan. 17, 2014
This week, I worked on learning the differences between the standard packages that NYX offers. This helped to build my general, working knowledge of the technology that goes into these packages, as well as the details with regards to pricing etc.

Below is a table that I made, which details each package. The pricing is left out for privacy purposes.

Week 9: Jan. 21, 2014
This week, I mainly wrapped up my experience with the entertainment producers that I worked with, and discussed my final project, which you may view on the “Final Project” page.
